Three injured protected birds retrieved on Thursday and another one received by Birdlife today were all shot, the organisation said.
It said in a post on Facebook that this was confirmed by the government vet.
Birdlife said that the total of known shot protected birds collected by Birdlife and the police since the start of this year’s autumn hunting season has reached 24. This is an average of more than one retrieved bird per day of the season which started on September 1.
The birds confirmed shot in the past 24 hours are a grey heron, found dead at sea in Għadira; a European bee eater, recovered from Dingli; another bee eater, found at Ħandaq; and a little Egret, found dead on Saturday at Mistra Valley.
