Bank of Valletta shut down all its operations on Wednesday morning after detecting an attempt by hackers to access its systems. All of the bank’s functions, including those at its branches, are currently suspended and its website is offline. In a statement, the bank reassured customers that their accounts and funds “are in no way impacted or compromised” and that it was working to resume normal services as soon as possible. “The Bank is working closely with local and international police authorities in this regard,” it said.
“Bank of Valletta apologises to its clients for any inconvenience caused and will be keeping its customers and the general public informed of developments.”
