A man was found dead in a Xlendi apartment on Thursday evening.
A police forensics team was deployed soon after the grim discovery was made as investigators sought to establish the cause of death.
Police said the victim was an elderly foreigner who had not been heard of for two days.
The police went to investigate after his family raised their concerns.
No signs of violence were seen.
