The salaries of Cabinet members have remained the same as those of 2013, the government said in a statement.
The government was referring to statements made in the media – not The Malta Independent – and reproduced on social media by members of the Opposition. The reports spoke about increases to salaries for Cabinet members, which the government is denying.
It is puerile that such fake reports are made, the government said. These reports were based on an exercise in which a half-year’s salary in 2017 was compared with a full year’s salary in 2018, the government said.
