Minister Ian Borg has expressed his disappointment that one of the 100 trees that were planted at the Saqqajja Hill was stolen overnight.

The tree was stolen less than 24 hours after it was planted, the minister wrote on his Facebook page. “But we will not lose heart and we will plant a replacement, and hundreds more around the country”.

Borg and the government have been under constant fire these last few months as trees were chopped off to make way for the widening of roads. The government has always defended itself saying that more trees will be planted instead of those that are being removed.

Earlier this week, Infrastructure Malta said it was planting trees at the Saqqajja Hill.
