An Air Malta flight from London to Malta has been delayed after an aircraft was damaged, the airline said.

The aircraft scheduled to operate flight KM117 from London Gatwick to Malta was involved in an incident this afternoon at the airport after the jetty bridge malfunctioned and made contact with the aircraft’s fuselage, Air Malta said.

The aircraft was stationary at the time of the incident. The aircraft is currently being checked by engineers with a view to return it to normal operations as soon as possible.

Due to this incident flight KM117 is being delayed. No other delays are expected today, the airline said.

“Safety for its customers and crew is Air Malta’s top priority. Air Malta apologises for this inconvenience due to circumstances beyond its control.”
