The owner of a Marsascala establishment and two Serbian men were arrested by the police on Saturday night in a drug raid.

The owner, a Maltese man aged 54 and resident of Zabbar, and the two Serbians aged 41 and 37, both of whom resident in Malta, were arrested after days of observation.

The two foreigners were using cocaine inside the shop, the police said.

Police dogs found drugs hidden beneath a sink – cannabis resin, 47 grammes of cocaine and 55 grammes of cannabis, together with electronic scales and other items related to drugs.

The police also seized a considerable amount of cash in plastic bags in the safe inside the shop and in the owner’s residence.

Magistrate Astrid May Grima is leading an inquiry.
