OPM chief of staff Keith Schembri said today he was not scared at all when asked why he withdrew a libel case against former Opposition Leader Simon Busuttil after being warned by a magistrate.

The case was instituted by Schembri himself after Busuttil had accused Schembri of receiving bribes through the company named 17 Black.

Schembri this morning said in court that he had been given legal advice not to answer questions which relate to ongoing inquiries. He later withdrew so as to avoid being asked these questions.

Approached by journalists on his way back to his office in Castille, Schembri said that he is not scared at all.

He said he will be giving testimony in the magisterial inquiry.

In a statement, Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia said the Prime Minister should immediately dismiss Schembri, who did his best not to answer any questions in a libel suit he himself had instituted.

Schembri chose not to testify so as not to incriminate himself, Delia said. After what happened in court today, Schembri should resign or should be removed from his position immediately, the PN leader said.
