7th case of Coronavirus confirmed as doctor’s relative tests positive

The seventh case of Coronavirus was confirmed this evening. The woman, a member of the family of a Maltese doctor who tested positive on Wednesday morning, is in good condition, the health authorities said.

The family had gone on holiday in the Dolomites, in northern Italy. This was another case of the virus being imported from Italy, the government said.

The woman is being held at the Infectious Diseases Unit at Mater Dei Hospital. The authorities are informed that the woman did not report for work after returning from abroad.

The government once again appealed for calm and responsibility. It said it is taking all necessary measures to safeguard public health.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Robert Abela announced a travel ban to another four countries apart from Italy: France, Germany, Switzerland and Spain.

People returning from these countries have to quarantine themselves or face a fine of €1,000.
