A man who ignored instructions and boarded a Gozo Channel ferry despite having a fever was removed from the vessel by police officers, the government said.
On Friday, Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri announced that all passengers are being screened at the Cirkewwa and Mgarr terminals and anyone with symptoms linked to the Coronavirus will not be allowed to board. Non-essential travel between the islands is also being discouraged.
The Home Affairs Ministry said a foreign national was found to be suffering from fever after he was screened at the Cirkewwa terminal.
Despite being asked not to board, the man insisted on boarding the vessel. He was removed after the police were called in.
The vessel, all passengers and the vehicles on board were disinfected by a special unit.
The man was taken away in an ambulance.
The government said it will not be allowing people to challenge laws and instructions that have been put in place to safeguard public health.
