PM Abela, Minister Dalli visit Enemalta workers working to restore power

Prime Minister Robert Abela and Energy Minister Miriam Dalli on Saturday visited the Enemalta Administration Centre in Marsa and a work site in Tarxien, where company workers have been “working non-stop to ensure electrical supply in the south”, a government statement said.

For the sixth day in a row, Malta has suffered multiple power cuts on different parts of the island. Since then Enemalta workers have been constantly working for people to have electricity again.

Whilst all this is going on the PN has been slamming the government for its incompetence and has been calling for the resignation of Dalli.

Abela followed the work that the workers were doing and thanked them for their service day and night at a moment when a heat wave hit Malta and Europe.

The Enemalta technicians explained the work being done and pointed out that due to the heat wave, Enemalta saw a record demand of 628MW.

Both Abela and Dalli asked the company to continue mobilizing all its efforts and resources to respond as quickly as possible to the needs of consumers.

Abela also pointed out how the government has already committed itself to giving compensation to anyone who has been financially affected in the last few days.

Present during the visits were also Chief Permanent Secretary Tony Sultana, Chairman of Enemalta Ryan Fava and CEO of Enemalta Jonathan Cardona.
