Enemalta employees deserve good financial compensation and additional leave – PN

Enemalta employees deserve good financial compensation and additional leave for the work they have been performing, the Nationalist Party has said.

The PN, through a statement signed by PN MPs Mark Anthony Sammut and Ivan Castillo, thanked the Enemalta workers for their resilience and working in harsh conditions. “They were put in a position which was of no fault of their own, but they are going to have to be the ones to solve the situation.”

“These are the true heroes, who are working night and day to bring back electricity to homes that have been without electricity for whole days. These workers answered with their hearts when their country needed them. Some of these workers go back to their homes without electricity and are expected to wake up for work to repeat another challenging work day.”

“These workers, who are spending many hours away from their families, deserve to be compensated well, not only financially, but also through additional leave as compensation for the time they lost with their families.”

The PN said that since many businesses decided to close their doors and send employees on leave, “and in some cases without pay due to the unstable provision of electricity, the PN asks if Robert Abela’s government will make good for the loss of work, other damages and workers’ wages.”

“This national crisis is having an impact on the quality of life of all workers and employers, as well as on their income, in an environment where the cost of living exploded. It is only Robert Abela’s government that is responsible for this national crisis,” the PN said.
