3-year-old boy found seriously injured near Mellieha cliffside

A 3-year-old boy was found seriously injured in Mellieha, the police said.

At around 3am on Tuesday, the police received a call for assistance from a campsite in the Ahrax area of Mellieha, as the family of a three-year-old boy couldn’t find him.

Police officers went on site and called for assistance from the Civil Protection Department and a medical team.

“Fortunately, the boy was found soon after searches under a cliff began,” the police said. He was lifted up by members of the CPD and taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. He was certified as having suffered serious injuries.

Magistrate Giannella Camilleri Busuttil launched an inquiry and investigations are ongoing.
