Malta’s Miriana Conte served up a place in the Eurovision Grand Final after a strong performance in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on Thursday.
Singing her song ‘Serving’ in the ninth spot in Thursday’s semi-final, Conte was expected to make it to the Grand Final, with bookies placing easily among the top 10.
Her song was also the ninth out of ten to be announced in a nerve-wracking read-out of the finalists.
It’s the first time in four years that Malta has made it through to the Grand Final which will now take place on Saturday.
The last time Malta made it to the big event was when Destiny Chukunyere’s ‘Je Me Casse’ wowed fans on the way to winning her semi-final in 2021. She ultimately finished 7th in the competition – Malta’s best showing since Chiara’s runner-up spot in 2005.
Lithuania, Israel, Armenia, Denmark, Austria, Luxembourg, Finland, Latvia, and Greece were the other nine countries to make it through Thursday’s semi-final.
Iceland, Poland, Estonia, Ukraine, Sweden, Portugal, Norway, San Marino, Albania, and the Netherlands qualified during Tuesday’s semi-final.
They will join hosts Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and Germany who qualified automatically for the final.
