A five-year-old boy was critically hurt on Sunday afternoon after he was hit by a car in Bugibba, the police said.
The accident took place in Cern Street at 1.15pm.
The boy was hit by the side-mirror of a Volkswagen Polo driven by a 22-year-old man of Msida.
The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
