Final preparations underway for Valletta New Year’s Eve celebrations on Tuesday

The final preparations for New Year’s Eve celebrations in Valletta on Tuesday are underway, the Ministry for National Heritage said on Monday.

The Ministry stated that Minister Owen Bonnici and Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef visited St George’s Square where the event will take place.

Bonnici said that the celebration in Valletta is one of the biggest events for the end of the year in Malta. He remarked that over 50,000 people are expected to attend, and continued that the event is not only a celebration of culture and art but also a unique opportunity to expose extraordinary local and international talents. He said that performances by high calibre artists will be taking place during the occasion.

Listing artists who will be taking part in the New Year’s Eve celebrations in Valletta, the Ministry said that Ira Losco, The Red Electric, Shaun Farrugia, and Kevin Paul will be performing their songs together with other classic Maltese duets. “The highlight of the New Year’s Eve celebrations will be through the internationally famous artist Cascada,” the Ministry added.

At the stroke of midnight, as the new year begins, there will be a great display of aerial fireworks in the Grand Harbour, the Ministry stated. Dorianne Mamo, Taryn Mamo Cefai, Owen Bonnici, and Keane Cutajar will be presenting the event and will be entertaining the crowd in Valletta and those watching live on television together with Dj Koroma and Dj Miggy. The Ministry added that Dj D-Rey will be closing the event.

VCA Chairman Micallef said that he is honoured that, once again, the largest local event on New Year’s Eve will be staged free of charge in the heart of Valletta. He appealed to the public to visit the capital on the occasion so that they can enjoy the atmosphere and music while closing the year and bringing on the new year.

The Ministry stated that the celebration in Valletta is organised by G7 events with a partnership agreement for large-scale events and initiatives with the VCA within the Ministry for National Heritage, Arts, and Local Government. It added that the event is supported by the Malta Tourism Authority.
