The uprooting of trees to make way for roads is a topical subject on the social media, a few days before a protest is held against the Central Link project in Attard.

One of the latest to join the fray was the wife of Foreign Minister Carmelo Abela and, not surprisingly, she came to the government’s defence.

With many complaining about the uprooting of trees, Melanie Abela is offering a way by which there could be more greenery.

Why not have more plants in the home, she asks on Facebook. Why is soil being removed and replaced by tiles, she adds.

With some more effort, we could have a better environment, she writes.
