It will come as a relief for drivers to know that the Regional Road widening project in the stretch between the Santa Venera tunnels and the underpass beneath the skate park has been completed.
Infrastructure Malta announced that the tarmac-laying exercise was finished this morning, bringing to an the nightmarish week drivers endured as traffic jams accumulated while works were taking place, 12 hours a day.
Line markings and other final works are in progress, Infrastructure Malta said, with the road which forms part of the arterial link between north and south readying for the thousands of vehicles that will use it.
Drivers will hope that the work, which also included the widening of the Msida bridge, will mean less time spent in traffic.
