Home Minister Michael Farrugia is in hospital after falling and hitting his head.
A statement by the government said that the accident took place on Wednesday in his private residence.
He was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was kept for observation.
The statement said he is expected to be discharged shortly, but will be indisposed for the next few days.
