Labour MEP Alfred Sant has expressed his concern about the way customers complaining about their water and electricity bill are being treated by ARMS, the company responsible for collected dues.

In a post on Facebook, Sant said that he was being approached with “too many” complaints about the way ARMS treat customers who complain about their bill.

Customers are just being told “that’s what the computer is showing”, Sant said, “and so you have to pay, whatever the bill is showing.”

If this is the case, it is wrong, the former Prime Minister said.

“Consumers must be given a serious remedy, not a cosmetic one. It’s not enough to say that the computer is correct,” Sant said.

In reply to Sant’s post, ARMS Ltd told The Malta Independent that it handles and assists around 900 customers and consumers on a daily basis from various outlets and communication channels.

“We swiftly contacted Dr. Sant to discuss his comments and offer to intervene immediately on any particular cases that were referred to him.

“Every day, ARMS employees and management strive to provide the best possible service and huge amount of investment is dedicated to training,” ARMS said.
