Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia took umbrage this evening at his own party’s newspaper Il-Mument following an article which he described as inappropriate.
The article he was referring to was about Lynn Faure who, the article’s headline said, “joined the Labour party after being unsuccessful in her music career.”
The article, written by Joe Mikallef, was profusely criticised across the social media all throughout the day.
This evening, party leader Adrian Delia also expressed his disdain, saying on Twitter that he had called Faure – who had represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest as Lynn Chircop – to apologise for the inappropriate article.
He said he extended the apology to all those mentioned in the article and said that he had demanded Il-Mument to withdraw it.

In what can be seen as a further attempt to limit the damage, Louis Galea, who has been appointed by Delia to oversee the PN’s reform, re-posted a comment made by the singer, who thanked all those who expressed their solidarity with her following the article.
But Labour exponents tried their best to counter Delia’s move, saying that it is not credible because there were other instances when Delia did not condemn similar comments. Miriam Dalli, who is responsible for Labour’s LEAD movement, and Aleander Balzan, the PL’s communications officer, were among those who tried to belittle what Delia did.
