Give us our hospitals back, Adrian Delia says

Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia said the three public hospitals which were transferred to be run by a private company should be returned to the people.

Speaking on the PN media, Delia said that millions have been given out to Vitals first and Steward Healthcare later via a deal which was set to fail.

Every Maltese family is paying €400 every year to Steward to run St Luke’s, Gozo General and Karin Grech hospitals, which amounted to €2,400 in the past six years since the contract was signed.

These companies were supposed to invest millions in the hospitals, but have so far spent nothing and, to top it all, they are now demanding more money, Delia said.

The Nationalist Party had nothing against the participation of the private sector in health matters, and is always willing to extend its support to serious companies. But the PN cannot accept a situation in which the people’s money is being thrown away without them getting anything back in return.

The private hospitals deal was bound to fail right from the start, and the PN is leading the fight to bring them back in the people’s hands, Delia said.
