Prime Minister Robert Abela on Friday inaugurated a €16 million concert zone in Ta’Qali national park, providing another open space for families.

“We promised open spaces and we’re providing open spaces,” Abela said at the beginning of his address in the area that was once a concrete factory and an abandoned site that ended up being used for illegal dumping of construction waste.

Abela said that now, there is a recreational park expected to host major events and an open green space for families.

He said that while investment in economic sectors is important, there is the need to equally invest in projects like these that provide a better life for families.

Abela said that this project, part of the largest green regeneration happening in Ta’ Qali, is an example of projects happening throughout the country.

He said that this latest project, with an expenditure of €16 million, another space has been given to families.

The Prime Minister also noted how the Concert Zone will provide another space for artists and the talent our country has, along with the potential that Malta continues to attract such events.

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett said that this project embodies government’s dedication to sustainable development while ensuring that our collective future is built on the principles of innovation, responsibility, and inclusivity.

“This project is a true testament to a government dedicated to progress and the improvement of society,” Bonett said.

Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia said he believes this zone will not only be a place where Maltese and Gozitans of all ages can relax, but also a place where good memories can be made in the largest open space.

Head of the Malta National Park Section in Ta’ Qali Jason Micallef explained how the Concert Zone and new recreational park for families add to the array of new green spaces in the national park.
