President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola is celebrating Europe Day in Kyiv.

Ukrainian Parliament Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk met her at the station.

“Back to the land of the brave. In Kyiv on Europe Day”, Roberta Metsola wrote on X (formerly, Twitter).

One of her events was a press conference she had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which was interrupted towards the end as air sirnes were sounded in the Ukrainian capital.

Metsola, Zelensky and the media were taken to a shelter.

It is Metsola’s third visit to the country since the Russian invasion two years ago.

The European Parliament president said she wanted to send a “strong message” on Europe Day.

“We stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes. Since the unprovoked attack, Ukrainians have been fighting for our freedom,” she said.
